Introduction

Lime wash Tassie oak timber floor: At MyFlooring, we take pride in transforming outdated timber floors into contemporary masterpieces. Our expertise in timber floor sanding, polishing, staining, and liming ensures that your floors will look stunning and match your modern home aesthetics.

  • Before : Orange tassie oak due to age and solvent based polyurethane.

The Original State of the Project

Our client had a modern home with an extension towards the back end, featuring very orange and worn Tassie Oak timber. The original part of the property had the old, orange-toned timber, while the newer extension had a different, more modern look. The client wanted to remove the old-fashioned orange coloring to create a cohesive and contemporary appearance throughout the home.

How We Solved the Issue

We addressed the issue by using a liming technique. First, we sanded the timber back to its bare state, removing the old finish. Then, we prepared several lime-wash samples for the client to choose from on-site. Once the client selected their preferred sample, we applied the lime-wash all over the timber floors. This process not only removed the orange hue but also brightened the space, creating a more modern and cohesive look.

  • Samples provided on site: A few looks for our client to choose from - Exact sample colour to final results.

The Transformation

The final result was remarkable. The timber floors no longer had the outdated orange look; instead, they brought more light into the home, perfectly matching the modern extension. The client was extremely happy with the transformation, noting the significant improvement in the overall aesthetics. Additionally, we applied a water-based polyurethane finish, which is both durable and resistant to yellowing over time, ensuring the floors maintain their fresh, modern appearance.

  • After - Sanded then lime washed then sealed in Waterbased polyurethane.

Benefits of Lime-washing

Lime washing is an excellent way to modernize timber floors, giving them a lighter and more contemporary look. It enhances the natural grain of the wood and adds brightness to any room. The water-based polyurethane finish we used provides a durable, long-lasting protection that doesn't yellow with age, keeping the floors looking new for years to come. Our client was thrilled with the outcome, appreciating both the aesthetic and practical benefits of the project.
