How to Maintain with Rubio Monocoat Oil

One of our most popular options, and if you know how to care for a Rubio finish, you will be able to enjoy your timber flooring for longer.

Cleaning

Once the Monocoat finish is fully cured, it is recommended to clean it using only Monocoat-approved products.

Before the curing process, you can dry mop or vacuum the surface.

After curing:

Surface Care Spray: This ready-to-use cleaner leaves no residue.

Natural Soap: A concentrated version of the Surface Care Spray, which should be diluted before use.

Curing Time

Oil Plus & 2C Part A: 21 days

Oil Plus 2C A&B: 7 days

UV Oil: Upon installation

Restoration & Rejuvenation

Restoration is a simple process that can be carried out at any time. Most residents choose to restore their surfaces every 3-5 years, while commercial spaces may require restoration every 1-3 years due to higher traffic wear.

Recommended products for restoration:

Refresh: Used to restore the surface texture of the finish.

Universal Maintenance Oil: Protects and refreshes the oiled wooden surface, while adding a soft satin luster to the timber finish.

Spot Repairs

Monocoat's natural oil finish bonding technology allows for localized touch-ups of minor damages and scratches.

Instructions:

  1. Sand the damaged area to expose the raw wood underneath.

  2. Dampen the area with water and allow it to dry.

  3. Apply oil to the damaged area using a cotton cloth, blending the color to match the surrounding finish.

  4. Let the oil react for 10 minutes, then wipe off the excess oil with a cloth.

For very minor scratches, follow the same instructions but skip the sanding step.
