What can I do about my Reddish Jarrah timber?
We can BLEACH it!
Similar to bleaching hair at a hair salon, we use chemical compounds that removes the reddish tannin from Jarrah and that gives us a basic light golden timber that we can apply a wash to get a specific colour that is modern/ right for your property.
As seen here
Jarrah that has just been sanded back- as you can see it's still Very RED
After the bleaching process- look at that!
With a grey wash and finish applied on top for a cool modern interior which suits the new black kitchen installation.
Now we know what Bleaching can do and what its used for~!
Hopefully we've given some confidence to home owners with Jarrah timber who doesn't know what to do with them.
P.S.- If you apply a wash or stain without bleaching, it is possible that the reddish tone will seep into the final colour. If it has a white lime wash applied- the final result looks very pinkish.
